CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Eliza Markland, 16 Aug 1957

Obituary appeared in the Friday, August 16, 1957 Elizabethton Star
 
Mrs. Eliza Markland, 77, of 304 West G. St. Elizabethton, died in the St.
Elizabeth Hospital at 6:00 am Friday following an extended illness.  She made
her home with a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Taylor.  She was a native of Carter
County and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death
by a son, Melvin Markland in March 1957.  Survivors include a daughter, Mrs.
Myrtle Taylor of the home; four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a
sister, Mrs. James Pardue fo 207 West G. St. Elizabethton. Funeral services
are tentatively set for Sunday, and the body will remain in the Tetrick
Funeral Home Chapel.

(Eliza was the daughter of William R. Grindstaff 1835-1905 and Sarah Lowe
1836-1905.  Eliza's husband was Allen Markland 1869-?)
