CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Rev. Bill Mullins, 27 Jul 2004 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Rev. Bill Mullins, 74, Dry Creek Rd., Elizabethton, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 27, 2004 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of St. Charles, Va., he was a son of the late Annie Tyree Allen. He had lived most of his life in Carter County. He was a former self-employed logger. Rev. Mullins had pastored several Free Will Baptist Churches in the East Tennessee and Western North Carolina area. He was a member of the Toe River Free Will Baptist Church Association. Rev. Mullins was a member of the Dry Creek Free Will Baptist Church, Jonesborough. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers and a great-grandson, Charlie Bailey. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Doris Britt Mullins; three sons and daughters- in-law, Billy (Rick) and Vickie Mullins, Johnson City; Ronnie James and Mary Mullins, Erwin, and Landon Thomas and Teresa Mullins, Elizabethton; five daughters and sons-in-law, Kylene and Roy Lunceford; Karen and Jimmy Shell; Mary and Jimmy Harrell, and Connie and Thomas Caldwell, all of Elizabethton, and June and Earl Beals, Erwin; one brother Earnest Mullins, of Dayton, Ohio; one sister, Ruth Esters, of Texas; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-randchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2004 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Arnold Hensley and Rev. Dexter Brummitt officiating. Graveside service and burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2004 in the Lyons Chapel Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Friday, will be the following grandsons: Robert Mullins, Brad Mullins, Billy Morton, David Brewer, Alex Hubbard, Matthew Hubbard, Les Beals and Dustin Harrell. Honorary pallbearers will be his sons-in-law and ministers of the Toe River Free Will Baptist Association. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. VFW Post #2166 will conduct military graveside honors. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Friday.
