"Wayne" Nave Charles W. "Wayne" Nave, 75, 131 Crickett Lane, Elizabethton, passed away into the arms of his Savior, Sunday, February 24, 2008, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A lifelong resident of Carter County, he was the son of the late Pline and Ivalene Vaughn Nave. Mr. Nave was an inactive member of Biltmore Baptist Church. He enjoyed walking and visiting friends in the community. Survivors include four sisters, Ruth Sanders, Francis Nave and Patsy Slagle, all of Elizabethton, and Charlotte VanHuss, Johnson City; and a brother and sister-in-law, James S. "Jim" and Rebecca Nave, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews and special friends in the community also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Nave will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. Sherrell Dunn and Rick Slagle conducting the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service, or at the home of his sister, Patsy Slagle, 103 Crickett Lane, Elizabethton, at other times. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 28, in the Vaughn Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Charles Slagle, Doug Childers, Mike Childers, David Sanders, Chris VanHuss, Mickey Hardin and Chris Vaughn. Honorary pallbearers will be friends of the Keenburg community. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family wishes to send their thanks and appreciation to the doctors and staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital and Life Care Center of Elizabethton. In lieu of flowers to those who desire memorials may be made to the Carter County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 776, Elizabethton, TN 37644.
