Norris Alma Beth Norris, 72, of Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2007, at her residence. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Mamie Johnson Norris. Alma was a 1953 graduate of Hampton High School, where she was valedictorian of her class. She was employed as a secretary for Nave Hardware for several years before going to the Bookkeeping Department of Carter County Bank. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Leon, Byrl, Jimmy, Estel and Doyle Norris, a brother-in-law, Carl Miller, and her special friend, Ralph Bush. Survivors include three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Barbara Miller and Doris and Bill Davis, all of Hampton, and Alice and Carroll Shell, Elizabethton; three brothers and five sisters-in-law, Roger and Margie Norris, Bakersville, N.C., Benny and Bobbie Norris, Elk Park, N.C., Gerald "Joe" and Carolyn Norris, Elizabethton, Joyce Norris, Erwin, and Kathy Norris, Johnson City; and a host of nieces and nephews who greatly loved her. Funeral services for Miss Norris will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 11, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Phil Poston and the Rev. Shane Waters officiating. Music will be provided by Jeff Norris and Jennifer Warren. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be David and Mary Bush and her church family. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of a sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Bill Davis, 131 Sawmill Road, Hampton. Condolences to the Norris family may be e-mailed to mfc@chartertn.net.
