CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Snyder "Red Beard" Nave, 16 Aug 2002 ----¤¤¤---- Snyder Nave Snyder "Red Beard" Nave, 82, formerly of 126 Arrow Drive, Elizabethton, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton, following a brief illness. A Carter County native, he was a son of the late Ora Gay and Sally Buckles Nave. Mr. Nave was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Arthur Nave, and by one sister, Ailene Nave Stamey. He retired from North American Rayon Corporation after 35 years of service. Mr. Nave was also a constable for 27 years for the Stoney Creek community. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Gladys McKinney Nave, of the home, one daughter, Barbara Sue Jackson, Kingsport, Tenn., three sisters, Helen Juanita Fair and Ruth Wilson, both of Elizabethton, and Phyllis Gouge, Johnson City, Tenn. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, 423-542-2232, is in charge of arrangements. NAVE -- Funeral services for Snyder "Red Beard" Nave, 82, formerly of 126 Arrow Drive, Elizabethton, who died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, from the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton, with the Revs. Darrell Holly and James R. Hawk officiating. Music will be under the direction of the quartet of Hunter Memorial Baptist Church. Graveside service an interment will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, from Happy Valley Memorial Park, with the Rev. H. Brooks Peters officiating. Active pallbearers will be Davey Collins, Dustin Collins, Travis Far, Jeffrey Gouge, Roger Hamm, Mike Cole, Lester Wilson and Frank Green. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim McKinney, Reece Cole, Jerry Reed, Billy Ray Davis, Lawrence "Beardy" Holly, Kyle Gouge, Sonny Fletcher, Phil Asher, Don Pearce and Ray Lawson. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton, or other times at the residence, 126 Arrow Drive, Elizabethton.
