Clara G. Newport

Clara Guy Newport, 73, Elliott Street, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, 
March 18, 2003, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness.
Mrs. Newport was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late 
John and Lucy Green Guy. She was also preceded in death by a brother, 
Earnest Guy, and a sister, Ivalee Lovelace.
Mrs. Newport was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Elizabethton 
and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Millard C. Newport, of the home; two sons 
and a daughter-in-law, Eddie and Glenda Newport, Gallatin, Tenn., and 
Michael Newport, Ashland City, Tenn.; a grandson, Michael Newport, Ashland 
City, Tenn.; a stepgrandson, Keith Stagg, Gallatin, Tenn.; and four sisters, 
Virginia McQueen, Elizabethton, JoAnn Williams, Washington, N.C., Merle 
Humphrey, Ashtabula, Ohio, and Gladys Graley, Conneaut, Ohio. Several 
nieces and nephews also survive.

NEWPORT -- Funeral services for Clara Guy Newport, 73, Elliott Street, 
Elizabethton, who died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, will be conducted at 8 p.m. 
Friday, March 21, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with the 
Rev. Elmer Carter officiating. Music will be under the direction of Spencer 
"Bo" and JoAnn Campbell. Private disposition will be held at a later date. 
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of 
Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home. Friends may also call at the residence, 915 
Elliott Street, Elizabethton, any time. In lieu of flowers, donations may 
be made in memory of Mrs. Newport to the First Free Will Baptist Church of
