Mr. Nidiffer was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Claude and Nellie Fair Nidiffer. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mabel Jenkins Nidiffer, and two brothers, Claude Nidiffer Jr. and Albert Nidiffer. Mr. Nidiffer was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation where he had been employed for a number of years. He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Elizabethton. Survivors include his wife, Jessie Carroll Nidiffer; a daughter and son-in-law, Norma Jean and Jim Arney, Deland, Fla.; a step-daughter and her husband, Shirley and Ted Mynatt, Elizabethton; two step-sons and their wives, Robert "Bob" and Lynn Ann Carroll and Lynn and Sandra Carroll, all of Elizabethton; two sisters, Hildred Fair and Christine Swift, both of Elizabethton; a granddaughter and her husband, Sharon and Mark West, Deland, Fla.; and a grandson and his wife, James R. and Pam Arney, Deland, Fla. Two great-grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, five step-great- grandchildren, and a very special friend, David Gallagher. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. NIDIFFER -- Funeral services for Robert "Gene" Nidiffer, 82, 1103 Ledford Street, Elizabethton, who died Thursday, March 23, 2000, in Savannah, Ga., will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 26, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ed Davis, Rev. Phil Poston and Rev. Marvin Slagle officiating. Rev. Phil Poston will provide the music. Interment will be at Monte Vista Burial Park, Johnson City. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 2:55 p.m. Sunday, will be John Gardner, Andy Naylor, Chad Burleson, Jeff Dunn, Bill Bishop, Tony Letterman, Sid Letterman, Ray Letterman, Freddie Babb and Darold Deloach. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the John Morgan Sunday School Class of First Free Will Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
