Orpha M. Norris

   Mrs. Orpha Mae Whitehead Norris, 118 Rasnick Hollow Road, Watauga, 
died Thursday, January 18, 2001, at Asbury Center following a lengthy 
battle with rheumatoid arthritis. She was 88, having been born November 
26, 1912, in Dennis Cove, Tenn. She was a daughter of the late Cleve and 
Annie Holly Whitehead. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 
60 years, Dale M. Norris, two sisters, Martine Whitehead and Mary Holdway, 
and a brother, Charlie Whitehead.
   Mrs. Norris was a housewife and had worked at North American Rayon 
Corporation. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, Watauga.
   Survivors include her daughter, Hazel Bryant, Trenton, Fla.; two sons, 
Larry Dale Norris, Watauga, and Steve Norris, Lawtey, Fla.; three sisters, 
Hazel Oliver, Elizabethton, Geneva Smalling, Watauga, and Ethel Childers, 
Hampton; three brothers, Dave Whitehead, of California, Joe Whitehead, 
Roan Mountain, and Martin Whitehead, of Georgia; three grandchildren, Dale 
Anderson, Trenton, Fla., Kay Ann Whitson, London, Ky., and Thomas Zane 
Norris, Watauga.
   Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
   
   NORRIS -- Funeral services for Mrs. Orpha Mae Whitehead Norris, 88, 118 
Rasnick Hollow Road, Watauga, who passed away Thursday, January 18, 2001, 
will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, January 20, at Memorial Funeral 
Chapel with Dr. Kenneth Jordan officiating. Graveside services and interment 
will be private in the George Mottern Cemetery on Sunday. The family will 
receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Friends 
may also call at her residence. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of 
arrangements.
