Doris J. Oakes 





    Mrs. Doris J. Pearson Oakes, 75, 601 Holly Lane, Elizabethton, died 

Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief 

illness. 





    A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late R.S. and Ada 

Hale Pearson. 





    Mrs. Oakes was retired from Levi Strauss in Johnson City. She had attended 

Calvary Baptist Church. She was a very loving mother and grandmother and loved 

gardening. 





    In addition to her parents, Mrs. Oakes was preceded in death by her 

husband, Robert Douglas Oakes, and two infant daughters. 





    Survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Oakes, Elizabethton, and Linda 

Carolyn Cutlip, Sutton, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Jordan Oakes and Jonathan 

Oakes, both of Elizabethton, and Tonya Cutlip and Michelle Cutlip, both of 

Sutton, W.Va.; and a great-grandson, Hunter, of Sutton, W.Va. 





    Graveside services and interment for Mrs. Oakes will be conducted at 2 

p.m. Saturday, April 21, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Brent 

Seals officiating. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Saturday.
