CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Alice Nidiffer Odom, 6 Feb 2005 ----¤¤¤---- Alice Nidiffer Odom, 85, Hillview Health Center, formerly of Betterley Place, Elizabethton, died Sunday, February 6, 2005, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Odom was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Robert Charles and Rhoda Dial Nidiffer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack William Odom, August 15, 1973, three sisters, Mary C. Ketchem, infant Elizabeth Nidiffer and Ruth Gross, and a brother, James Nidiffer. Mrs. Odom was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She was retired from Magnavox. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Carole Odom-Rajjouh, Charleston, West Va., and Charlotte and "Bud" Slusher, Kingsport; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Sharon Odom, Elizabethton; seven grandchildren, Ronnie Minton, LaGrange, Ohio, Randy Minton, Avon Lake, Ohio, Nina Ramey, Sonny Slusher and Joe Slusher, all of Kingsport, Craig Odom and Michael Shouse, both of Elizabethton; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Dorothy Sells, Piney Flats, Evelyn Guinn, Westland, Mich., Helen Vannoy, Elizabethton, and Phyllis Brewer, Johnson City; and special friends, Janie and Brian Henson, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 9, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Pastor David Foster and Rev. Bobby Stout officiating. Music will be under the direction of Pastor David Foster. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 10, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Thursday for the graveside service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service, and at other times at the residence of her son, Bill Odom, 1209 Happy Valley Street, Elizabethton. Active pallbearers will be Malcolm Johnson, Roger Ledford, Keith Ramey, Mark Payne, Jason Eggers and Michael Shouse. Honorary pallbearers will be Arvin "Toad" Ketchem, Kay Brewer, John Vannoy, Paul Elliott and Harold Smith.
