CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Dan Oliver, 5 Dec 2003

Dan Oliver, age 76, 171 Opossum Hollow Road, Elizabethton, a loving and 
wonderful husband, father and Papa, went to be with the Lord at his 
residence Friday, December 5, 2003, following an extended illness. A 
native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Eli and Lorhina Myers 
Oliver. He was a member of Willow Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Oliver 
retired from Summers-Taylor, Inc. after 43 years of service as a truck 
driver. He was a member of Elizabethton Senior Citizens. He was preceded 
in death by two sisters, Clara Bowers and Annie Williams; and four brothers, 
Fornie Oliver, Jess Oliver, Cecil Oliver and Eugene Oliver. 
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Oliver, of the home; three daughters 
and one son-in-law, Dale Shaffer, Morganton, N.C., Danetta Oliver, Loretta 
and Doug Rasnick, all of Elizabethton; two grandchildren, Kayla Rasnick and 
Eli Rasnick, both of Elizabethton; and one sister, Pearl Grindstaff, Valdese, 
N.C. Several nieces and nephews also survive. 
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2003, 
at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with the Rev. Doug Hardin and 
Doug Rasnick officiating. Music will be under the direction of Bobby Smith 
and Sandy Gass. Interment will follow the funeral service at Buckles 
Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Bobby Smith, Danny Hilbert, Kenneth 
Oliver, Jerry Buckles, Johnny Oliver and Tim Rasnick. Honorary pallbearers 
will be Dr. Todd Whitaker, Dr. Scott Caudle, Dr. Joe May, Fane Bowers, 
Joe Hardin, Edward "Pookie" Ensor, Reece Cole and Ray Williams. The family 
will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, December 7, at the Tetrick 
Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, or friends may call at the residence, 171 
Opossom Hollow Road, Elizabethton, any time. Those who prefer memorials 
in lieu of flowers may make donations in memory of Mr. Oliver to Willow 
Springs Baptist Church, 544 Willow Springs Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
