A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late John Mal and Zora Church Estep. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Patterson, November 27, 1990. Mrs. Patterson was a member of Bethel Church. She retired from Tri-State Container. Mrs. Patterson loved to garden and travel to see her family. She enjoyed playing games and collecting coins. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Troy Rinker of Jacksonville, Ark., and Janice and Fred Jenkins of Apopka, Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Judy Patterson of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Troy Jr. and Rebecca Rinker of New York City, N.Y., Michelle and Josh Bailey of Kingsport, and Matthew Patterson of Johnson City; a great-grandson, Troy Rinker III; a sister, Betty Jo Ketchem of Elizabethton; and special niece, Sandra Grindstaff. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mrs. Patterson will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 6, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Pearce officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Richard Ketchem, Matthew Patterson, Aaron Norris, Michael Smith, Ricky Chappell and Mike Shourds. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Jenkins, Roy Forbes and Jerry Perkins. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 5, or at the residence at other times. Mrs. Patterson had a great love for flowers and the family will be pleased to receive remembrances of her. However, those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the American Cancer Society, 209 S. Riverside Drive, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
