Prendergast Nancy Paty Prendergast, 75, 2329 Hillrise Avenue, Elizabethton, died Thursday, February 9, 2006, at her residence. Ms. Prendergast was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late John C. Paty Sr. and Olive Bingham Paty. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John C. Paty Jr. Ms. Prendergast was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Elizabethton. She was a graduate of Sullins Academy, Bristol, and University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. Ms. Prendergast retired from Paty Lumber Company and was a previous member of the Paty Lumber Company Board of Directors. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn P. and Craig Smith, Johnson City, Amy P. and Marcus McClary, Nashville, and Sharon P. and Carl Powell, Savannah, Ga.; two sons and daughters-in-law, William D. Jr. and Katrina Prendergast, Elizabethton, and Robert B. and Carolyn Prendergast, Kingsport; six grandchildren, Bryan H. Shaffer, Church Hill, Eliot T. Smith, Johnson City, Ashley D. Prendergast, Kingsport, Benjamin G. Prendergast, Elizabethton, Eric A. Smith, Johnson City, and Kathryn A. Prendergast, Kingsport; two sisters, Mrs. L. Clarke Jones Jr. (JoAnne), Ruther Glen, Va., and Mrs. John E. Seward Sr. (Matilda), Johnson City; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. John C. Paty Jr. and family, Bristol. The memorial service for Ms. Prendergast will be conducted at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church with the Rev. Harold Bahlow officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church until 7:30 p.m. The graveside service and inurnment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 15, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the St. Thomas Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 815 N.
