Perry Lora Ellen Holtsclaw Perry, 85, of Elizabethton, died at her residence Sunday, November 6, 2005. Mrs. Perry was a native of Shell Creek and the daughter of the late John C. and Bertha Turbyfield Holtsclaw. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Jack Perry, and by three sisters and a brother. Mrs. Perry was a homemaker but had previously worked at N.A.R.C. and American Bemberg Company. She had been a resident of the Valley Forge community since 1945 and was a member of Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Doris J. Perry, Elizabethton, and Barbara Jean and Jorge Morales, Mason, N.H.; two grandchildren, Debbie McKinney and David and Lisa McKinney; two great-grandsons, Brian McKinney and Stephen Andrew McKinney; and a sister, Orla Hicks, Hampton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Perry will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 10, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. D.C. Byrd officiating. Music will be under the direction of Ben Johnson. Active pallbearers will be Carl Roberson, Sam Harrison, Kenneth Holtsclaw, Carl Harrison, Tom Pleasant, Ben Johnson, Ikis Nave and James Carr. Honorary pallbearers will be Edwin "Bo" Fair, Ernest McKinney, Dr. Robert E. Walter, Martin Bennett, E.C. Vines, Rick Barrie, Sam McKinney, Joel Elijah and Raymond Holtsclaw. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel from 12 noon to the service hour Thursday. Memorials may be made to the Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church, 1503 Riverview Drive, Elizabethton, TN 37643 or to the Carter County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 776, Elizabethton, TN 37644.
