Mrs. Peters was the daughter of the late David and Annabell Morrell May and was a native of Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. John Wesley Peters, on June 21, 1989. Mrs. Peters was a former beautician at Hale's Beauty Shop and was a member of Unaka Baptist Church. She was an excellent cook, who loved cooking for her family of 13 every Sunday until December of 2006. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Richard Hodge, Elizabethton; two granddaughters and their husbands, Dr. Sherri Hardin and Jeff Hardin and Robin and John Ensor, all of Elizabethton; six great- grandchildren, Sarah, John-Wesley, Jesse and Rebekah Hardin and Madison and Macy Ensor, all of Elizabethton; her special friends, Roxie Nave, Orville and Eula Lee Grindstaff and Bertie Shankle; special neighbors, John and Gwendolyn Russell; and her special hairdresser, Leatha Grindstaff. The Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Peters will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Walker Roberson officiating. Her daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Hodge, will be delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service, and at other times at the residence, 1677 Highway 91, Elizabethton. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Building Fund of Unaka Baptist Church, 1598 Highway 91, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
