Peters Gerald D. Peters, 72, 213 Cedar Avenue, Elizabethton, died Thursday, October 25, 2007, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Roy N. and Hildred VanHuss Peters. Gerald was a retired employee of Mapes Piano String Company of Elizabethton and was also a part-time employee of Memorial Funeral Chapel. He was a member of East Side Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Gay Campbell Peters; a daughter and son-in- law, Regina and Steve Bradshaw, Elizabethton; three grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; and his mother-in-law, Georgia Campbell, Elizabethton. Funeral services for Mr. Peters will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, October 26, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ray Colbaugh and the Rev. Howard Messer officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 27, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Mark Simmons officiating. Active pallbearers will be employees of Memorial Funeral Chapel. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jeff Hopland, Dr. Mark Young, Dr. Lawrence Schmidt and Dr. Claire Paris. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home for all the love and care that was shown to Gerald during his illness. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at his residence.
