Ruth T. Pierce 





    Ruth Teresa Bowers Pierce, 80, 705 Holston Avenue, Elizabethton, passed 

away on Thursday, August 2, 2007, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. 





    A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late John C. and 

Laura Peters Bowers. 





    Mrs. Pierce was retired from North American Rayon Corporation and was a 

member of Blue Springs Christian Church. 





    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, 

Reece Carl Pierce, March 27, 2007; a daughter, Linda Pierce; three sisters, 

Dora Carr, Lula Mae Bowers and Demple Farris; and a grandson, Damon Pierce. 





    Survivors include a daughter, Betty Lou Collins of Elizabethton; two sons 

and daughters-in-law, Eugene and Barbara Pierce of Elizabethton and John and 

Gail Pierce of Arkansas; and two sisters, Rose Hardin and Anna Belle Hardin of 

Elizabethton. Seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren also survive. 





    The graveside service and interment for Mrs. Pierce will be conducted at 

10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 4, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Mike 

Koruschak officiating. Active pallbearers will be Robert Gobble, Bruce 

Cakebread, Tim Hardin, Mike Hardin and Robin Hardin. Honorary pallbearer is 

Roger Forbes. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 

10:20 a.m. Saturday. The family will receive friends in the funeral home 

chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 2. Those who prefer memorials in lieu 

of flowers may make donations to their favorite charity. Online condolences
