Pilkington Mrs. Martha E. Pilkington, 75, 112 River Road, Elizabethton, died Monday, September 5, 2005, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Pilkington was a native of Carter County and a member of the 1949 graduating class of Elizabethton High School. She was a member of Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church. Mrs. Pilkington was preceded in death by her parents, Milburne and Elizabeth Ellis; her husband, Doran "Ted" Pilkington; a son, Michael Pilkington; three sisters, Beatrice Williams, Geneva Lambert and Pauline Hanson; and two brothers, John Ellis and Arthur Ellis. Survivors include a son, Joseph Pilkington, Hurdle Mills, N.C.; a sister, Annie Simerly, Mountain View, Calif.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Pilkington will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, September 8, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Music will be under the direction of Ben Johnson. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, September 9, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Joseph Pilkington, Joey Pilkington, Jim Pilkington, Billy Phillips, Shelby Williams, Shuffle Ellis, Milburne Ellis and Caney Ellis. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
