Pippin Marie Elmore Pippin, 91, Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Elizabethton, died there Wednesday, March 21, 2007. A native of Pocahontas, Va., she was a daughter of the late W.R. and Lettie Hughes Elmore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Pippin, April 8, 1993, two grandchildren, Todd and Tina Pippin, and by six brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Pippin had lived most of her life in Carter County. She was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation after 26 years of service and was a member of East Side Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Pippin played the piano for several gospel groups during the years. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Mary Ann Pippin of Chula, Ga., Jack and Corine Pippin of Hampton and Larey and Chris Pippin of Elizabethton; eight grandchildren and spouses, Billy and Kris Pippin, Tammie and Mike Cole, Terri and Junior Phipps, Ted and Shonna Pippin, Timothy Pippin, Kim and David VanAsselberg, Teresa and Stacy McKinney and Rusty and Sarah Pippin; nine step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and spouses; 21 step- great-grandchildren and spouses; two great-great-grandchildren; 12 step-great- great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, William "Dub" and Ruth Elmore of Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews; and her two special friends, Ethel Ensor and Lillie Johnson. Funeral services for Mrs. Pippin will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, March 23, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. D.C. Byrd and the Rev. Dexter Brummitt officiating. Music will be provided by Dexter and Phyllis Brummit. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Steve Burleson and the Rev. Howard Messer officiating. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, will be her grandsons: Cody Cannon, Cane Cannon, Tory Morton, Tim Pippin, Ted Pippin and Rusty Pippin. Honorary pallbearers will be the Rev. Wallace Amos, the Rev. Johnny Vance, the Rev. Randy Johnson, the Rev. J.W. Norris, the Rev. Mark Street, Dr. Paul Humphrey, Mr. Ernie Depew, Johnny Ledford, Warren Ledford, Gilbert Hardin, Eddie McGee, Carl Roberson, Brett Cole, Kenneth Burke, Junior Phipps, Mark Odom, Mike Cole, Al Hughes, Lawrence Boone, Carl Nave, Maynard Trivette, Lynn Johnson, Bob Bowling, Stacy McKinney, Sloan Rogers, Tom McCloud, her friends at Courtyard Apartments and Franklin Place and many other friends too numerous to mention. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the staff and employees of Ivy Hall Nursing Home and Adventa Hospice. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of her sons, Jack Pippin, 223 Dog Wood Acres Road, Hampton, or Larey Pippin, 111 Smith Avenue, Elizabethton.
