Mrs. Poole was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Herbert and Georgia Mae Waycaster Edwards. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Poole, and two sisters, Betty Ragsdale and Mary Lou Holtsclaw. Mrs. Poole was retired due to disability from the Tennessee Department of Transportation. She was a member of Hopson Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Kathy Mitchell, Elizabethton; a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Junior Hampton, Elizabethton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Vivian and Jerry Hatcher and Wanda and Dennis Barnett, Elizabethton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Freda Edwards, Erwin, and Leon and Barbara Edwards, Elizabethton; four grandchildren, Gordon Mitchell, Christi Sigman, Chuck Hampton and Melissa Hampton; six great-grandchildren, Jordan Mitchell, Brandon Mitchell, Logan Sigman, Cody Sigman, Lee Ann Wiseman and Austin Hampton; a very special nephew, Joe Greenwell and family; and many friends from V.F.W. No. Post 2166. Funeral services for Mrs. Poole will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 29, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Doug Wagner officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Gordan Mitchell, Chuck Hampton, Joe Greenwell, Junior Hampton, Leon Edwards, Robert Edwards, Dennis Barnett and Ray Waycaster. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of her daughter, Ann Hampton, 116 Minton Hollow Road, Elizabethton, or at the residence of her son, Edward Mitchell, 1015 Arney Street, Elizabethton.
