Potter BOONE, N.C. -- Stanley Thomas Potter, 89, of Appalachian Brian Estates, Boone, died Wednesday, September 14, 2005, at Watauga Medical Center. Mr. Potter was born March 31, 1916, in Carter County, Tenn., to the late Solomon and Julia Owens Potter. Mr. Potter was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a retired electronics technician from the U.S. Government Civil Service. Mr. Potter was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Blackwell Potter, and by two sisters and three brothers. Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Colvard (Triplett) Potter, Boone; two daughters, Dee Parks, Boone, and Susan Williamson, Nashville, Tenn.; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Fair, and a brother, Van Potter, both of Elizabethton, Tenn.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-daughters; one stepson; six step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Appalachian Brian Estates. Interment will be at Crestview Memorial Gardens in Lexington, Ky. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1820 East 7th Street, Charlotte, N.C. 28204.
