Potter Ms. Orpha Mae Potter, 88, 1633 Hillview Drive, previously of the Elk Mills Community, died Monday, January 1, 2007, at Hermitage Health Center following a lengthy illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Lena Sheets Potter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Ruth Birchfield, and by several brothers and sisters. Ms. Potter was a tobacco farmer and a member of Elk Mills Church of Christ. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Pat Potter of Knoxville; a daughter and son-ion-law, Nancy and Steve Dugger of Elizabethton; five grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Lori Potter, Kim and Billy Thomas, Roger Allen Potter, Lisa Cruze and Christopher Dugger; six great- grandchildren, Logan Potter, Jake Potter, Nichole Starcher, Dustin Cruze, Rachel Osborne and Megan Thomas; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, R.L. and Norma Potter and J.D. and Irene Potter, all of Elizabethton; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Jettie Potter of Elizabethton and Goldean and Gene Stines of North Carolina. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Ms. Potter will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Jessie Stines officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, at Elk Mills Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Rickie Potter, Scottie Potter, Billy Harding, David Stines, Fred Locke and Chris Dugger. Those wishing to attend the graveside service should meet at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday. The family would like to give a very special thank you to the staff of Hermitage Health Center for the loving care they gave to Ms. Potter.
