Lona F. Potter 





    CHESTERTON, Ind. -- Lona Florena Potter, 70, of Chesterton, formerly of 

Cleveland, Ohio, and Carter County, Tenn., died Friday, January 5, 2007, at 

Porter Hospital, Valparaiso Campus, Valparaiso, Ind., after a courageous 

battle with cancer. 





    A native of Carter County, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late Andrew 

and Julie (Hartley) Lunceford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in 

death by a sister, Goldie Ann Lambert, and four brothers, Robert, Dewey, 

Martin and Joe Lunceford. 





    Mrs. Potter was a homemaker. She was a devoted wife, mother and 

grandmother, with a special love for animals. 





    Survivors include her husband, Lonnie F. Potter of Chesterton; a son and 

daughter-in-law, Dennis J. and Debra Potter of Brunswick Hills, Ohio; two 

daughters and sons-in-law, Donna J. and Stephen Rodgers of Michigan City, and 

Wanda M. and P.J. Sliwa of Delaware, Ohio; a sister and brother-in-law, Celia 

Mae and Ed Lyons of Johnson City, Tenn.; and a grandson, Alexander Sliwa. 





    Funeral services for Mrs. Potter will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, 

January 9, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Ind., 

with Rev. Kirk Reynolds officiating. Entombment will be at Graceland Cemetery, 

Valparaiso, Ind. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, 

January 8, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Potter 

to the American Cancer Society.
