Palmer Mrs. Virginia Lee Palmer, 78, 175 Coal Chute Road, Elizabethton, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. Mrs. Palmer was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late George and Rosie McCurry Wilson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Bruce Palmer, July 14, 2000, a son, Harold Palmer, and two grandsons, Jamie and Todd Palmer. Mrs. Palmer was a member of the Prayer Tabernacle. Survivors include two daughters, Clairece Powell, Roan Mountain, and Gladys Buchanan, Pineola, N.C.; four sons, Roger Palmer, Roan Mountain, Johnny Palmer and Eddie Dean Palmer, both of Elizabethton, and Charles Palmer, Johnson City; a brother, Junior Wilson, Hampton; three sisters, Loretta Archer and Alberta Lilly, both of Hampton, and Mary Lou Winters, Roan Mountain; 16 grandchildren, including a special granddaughter, Jean Payne; 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. PALMER -- Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia Lee Palmer, 78, 175 Coal Chute Road, Elizabethton, who died Sunday, April 8, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. A.G. Wagner, the Rev. Jerry Honeycutt and the Rev. Bobby Stout officiating. The Victory Singers and Greg and Tammy Ruston will provide the music. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, at Johnson-Roan View Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, will be Jonathan Palmer, Jerome Powell, Jerald Powell, Jeffery Powell, Rodney Payne, Timmy Palmer, Jerry Tipton and Kelly Honeycutt. Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of Housecall Hospice, Judy and Victor Deloach and the Staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home, and members of Prayer Tabernacle. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of Johnny Palmer, 173 Coal Chute Road, Elizabethton, or at the residence of Eddie Dean Palmer, 106 Mount Vernon Place, Elizabethton. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
