Pearce 12/28/99 Harry R. Pearce, 82, 421 Tollett Street, Hampton, died Sunday, December 26, 1999, at the James H. Quillen Veterans Medical Center, Mountain Home, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Pearce was a native of Elizabethton and had lived most of his life in Hampton. He was a son of the late Joseph P. and Mary Brumitt Pearce and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Johnson Pearce, in 1970, a son, Richard "Ricky" Pearce, in 1974, and a granddaughter, Harriett Denise Shepard. Mr. Pearce was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Elizabethton Senior Citizens and a member of Hampton First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Joann Carden Pearce, of the home; a son, Joseph Leslie Pearce, of the home; a daughter, Loretta A. Pearce, Hampton; a stepdaughter, Debra Ann Howe, Kingsport; a stepson, James Daniel Ellis, Elizabethton; a sister, Lela Williams, Hampton; a grandchild, Irene McClellan, Hampton; and three great-grandchildren, Tabitha Ann McClellan, Brandy McClellan and Roy McClellan Jr., all of Hampton. Pearce, 82, 421 Tollett Street, Hampton, who died Sunday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hathaway- Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, with Rev. Haskel Ingram and Rev. James Archer officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mrs. Jennifer Crabtree, soloist, and Mrs. Shelia Woods, pianist. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dale Largent, Roger Livingston, Danny Howell, Jim Thomas, Albert Deloach and Richard Arnett. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Pearce, Red Glover and members of the Adult Men Sunday School Class of Hampton First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Friends may also call at the residence of Mrs. Joann Pearce, 421 Tollett Street, Hampton, Loretta A. Pearce, 419 Tollett Street, Hampton, or Irene McClellan, 519 Highway 321, Hampton. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
