Peoples, 72, of Ware Shoals, died Monday, January 17, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital. Dr. Peoples was a native of Carter County, Tenn., and a son of the late Mack Henry and Ossie Lucinda Young Peoples. Dr. Peoples was a 1954 graduate of the University of Tennessee Medical School and came to Ware Shoals in 1955 where he practiced at Ware Shoals Medical Clinic until he was forced to retire because of ill health in November 1999. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of Ware Shoals United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mary Gouge Peoples, of the home; a son, James C. "Jimmy" Peoples, Johnson City, Tenn.; two daughters, Mrs. Debbie Davis, Ware Shoals, and Ms. Cindy P. Flowe, Kannapolis, N.C.; and two brothers, Robert Peoples, Johnson City, Tenn., and Jack Peoples, Erwin, Tenn. Five grandchildren also survive. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Roselawn Memory Gardens, Johnson City, with Rev. Mack Houston and Rev. Gayle Summey officiating. Memorials may be made to Ware Shoals United Methodist Church, Box 59, Ware Shoals, S.C., or to Emerald Center Foundation, Box 3004, Greenwood, S.C. 296481.
