CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Ralph Perry, Jr., 24 Apr 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Ralph Perry, Jr. Ralph Perry, Jr., 81, East H. Street, Elizabethton, died Thursday, April 24, 2003 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Ralph Perry, Sr., and the late Phoebe Crosswhite Perry Derthick. He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church, Elizabethton and a former member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Elizabethton. He was a retired Transportation Coordinator from the First Tennessee Human Resource Agency. He was also a retired employee of Magnavox of Morristown. Mr. Perry was co-founder of Ivy Hall Nursing Home and was a former Captain of the Elizabethton Police Department. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post #49, and a member of Capt. Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post #2166. He was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Beaver. Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Hunt Perry, of the home; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Lee Perry and his fiance, Cindy Martin, both of Elizabethton; Robert and Beth Perry, Elizabethton; John Michael and Sherri Perry, of Charlottesville, Va.; four granddaughters, Kelly Toncray and spouse, Chip, Elizabethton; Katie Sheets and spouse, Jason, Johnson City; Jennifer Perry, of Charlottesville, Va.; Autumn Perry, Elizabethton; two grandsons, Camron Perry, of Charlottesville, Va.; Wolfgang Perry, Elizabethton; one great granddaughter, Aubrey Chase Toncray, Elizabethton. PERRY -- The funeral service for Ralph Perry, Jr., 81, 424 East H Street, Elizabethton, who died Thursday, April 24, 2003, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2003 at Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Rev. Elmer Carter and Pastor Jack McWhirter officiating. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2003 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Military honors to be accorded by Capt. Lynn H. Folsom, VFW Post #2166. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Elizabethton City Police Department, doctors and nursing staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital, Ernest "Bud" Gentry, Blue Bowers, and Paul Hopkins. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:15 p.m. Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery.
