Peters Leslie Burl "B" Peters, 72, 113 Stewart, DeLand, Fla., died Saturday, January 13, 2001, at the Florida Hospital of DeLand, following an extended illness. Mr. Peters was a native of Carter County and a former resident of Elizabethton and Knoxville. He was the son of the late Henry C. and Eliza Echols Peters. Mr. Peters was a member of Stoney Creek Baptist Church. He was the former owner and operator of Peters Grill on Stoney Creek and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Captain Lynn H. Folsom V.F.W. Post #2166 and the Elizabethton Elks Lodge #1847. Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Richard Hardin, Elizabethton; a brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Jan Peters, Elizabethton; four nieces, Pam Wilson, Judy Church, Mariana Robinson and Fredia Massengill, all of Elizabethton; four nephews, Jonathan Hardin, Timothy Peters, Scott Sams and Eddie Rogers, all of Elizabethton; two stepsons, T.J. Mayes and L.G. Mayes, both of Morristown; two uncles and their wives, Fornia and Peggy Peters and Clyde and Lydia Peters, all of Elizabethton; one godchild, Dillon Mackey, Knoxville; and special friends, Ed and Betty Peoples, Knoxville. Mr. Peters will be returned to Elizabethton for funeral services and interment. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later.
