CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Emily Peters, 25 Nov 1958 ----¤¤¤---- Obituary appeared in the Wednesday November 26, 1958 Elizabethton Star Mrs. Emily Peters, 87, of Rt 2, Elizabethton, died Tuesday at the home following an illness of nine weeks. She was a native of Carter County and a member of the Liberty Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. George Taylor with whom she made her home, and Mrs. Cheslia Lowe of Roda, Virginia; a son, John Peters of Johnson City; 37 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren and 11 great great-grandchildren. Tetrick Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements. Funeral services for Mrs. Emily Peters will be held 2 pm Thursday from the Liberty Freewill Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. S.D. Hart and the Rev. John Townsend. Misic by the Hardin Brothers Quartet. The body will be returned to the home at 4:00 pm Wednesday and will be removed to the church at 12:30 pm Thursday to await the service hour. Active pallbearers will be: J.E. Taylor, Robert Taylor, Harley Taylor, Rex Harrell, and Leonard Hardin. Flower bearers will be the adult Sunday School Class of the Church. Interment will be in the Blevins Cemetery. Tetrick Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. (Emily was the daughter of Elija D. Hardin c1835-before 1880 and Lydia Forbes 1836-1912. She was the widow of Christian C.
