CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Powell Peters, 24 Apr 1958 ----¤¤¤---- Obituary appeared in the Friday, April 25, 1958 Elizabethton Star Powell Peters, 69, Route 8, Johnson City, died at the home of a daughter Mrs. Ruth Brockwell where he made his home at 6:35 pm Thursday, following an illness of four years. He was a native of Carter County and a member of the Liberal Freewill Baptist Church. He was a farmer. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Julia Peters of the home; three sons, Ed Peters of Johnson City; Clyde Peters of Elizabethton, and Clarence Peters of Peru, Indiana; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Brockwell of Johnson City; Mrs. Ora Blevins of Route 5, Elizabethton, and Mrs. Grace Berry of Route 7, Elizabethton; sixteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Tilda Taylor of Route 5, Elizabethton; and Mrs. Chelsie Lowe of Rhoda, Va.; a brother, John Peters of Johnson City, and his mother, Mrs. Emma Peters of Route 5, Elizabethton. Tetrick Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements. (Powell Peters was the son of Christian C. Peters 1869-1921 and Emma Rachel Hardin 1871-1958.
