CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Venia Elizabeth Peters, 26 Jul 1973 ----¤¤¤---- Obituary appeared in the Thursday, July 26, 1973 Elizabethton Star Mrs. Venia Elizabeth Peters, 83, 835 North Roan Street, Elizabethton, died at 12:45 a.m. Thursday in the Carter County Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. A native and life-long resident of Carter County she was the last Charter Member of the New Liberty Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by ther husband, John W. Peters in 1965, two daughters, Mrs. Lena Taylor, 1964 and Miss Ruth Peters in 1955, two sons, Gilbert Peters in 1963 and James Peters in 1970. She had made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Leola Richardson for the past eight years. Survivors include three other daughters, Mrs. James Seaton, Hyattsville, Md.; Mrs. Glen Hurley, siam Road, Elizabethton and Mrs. Rheba Hardin, Rt. 7, Elizabethton; one son, Auda Ralph Peters, Rt. 3, Elizabethton; 27 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and four aunts. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Funeral services for Mrs. Venia Elizabeth Peters, 83, 835 North Roan Street, Elizabethton, who died Thursday morning will be conducted from the New Liberty Freewill Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. D.C. Byrd officiating. The Hardin Brothers Quartet will be in charge of the music. Active pallbearers who are requested to meet at the church at 1:45 p.m. Saturday will be Eugene Bradley, Clifton Williams, Paul Oliver, Paul Garland, Rondal Peters and Arthur Peters. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of the Church, Dr. W.G. Frost, Dr. David Slagle, Dr. Jerry Gasteneau, Rev. Dan Garland Jr., Rev. Tommy Maines, Rev. Talmadge Brown, Rev. Charles Hill Jr., Rev. E.C. Jennings and Howard Peters. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the funeral Home and other times at the residences of Mrs. Leola Richardson, 835 N. Roan St. and Auda Ralph Peters, Rt. 2, Elizabethton. The body will be removed to the church one hour before services. Interment will be in the Blevins Cemetery.
