CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Hubert W. Peters, 24 Apr 2005 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Hubert W. Peters, 87, Laurel Road, Elizabethton, died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at the James H. Quillen VA Hospital, Mountain Home, following an extended illness. Mr. Peters was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Will and Bertha Hardin Peters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister. Mr. Peters was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II. He faithfully attended Unaka Baptist Church and retired from North American Rayon Corporation after 36 years. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Lowe Peters, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Mitchel "Butch" and Jennifer Peters, Elizabethton; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Richard and Brenda Peters, Elizabethton; and two great-grandchildren, Brent and Jordan Peters. Funeral services for Mr. Peters will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Walker Roberson officiating. Music will be by the Rev. Harold McNabb. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Military Honors will be conducted by the Tennessee National Guard. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, will be Gary Arnold, Bill Lewis, Leonard Houghton, Mike McCloud, Robert Rainbolt and Joe Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be his church family and a very special friend and neighbor, Ronnie B. Taylor. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. Friends may call at the residence at anytime.
