CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Joy Lou Hughes Phelps, 24 Dec 2004 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Mrs. Joy Lou Hughes Phelps, 70, Oak Grove Rd., Gray, died Friday, December 24, 2004 at her residence. Mrs. Phelps was a native of Spruce Pine, N.C. and a daughter of Ileen Vance Hughes, of Gray, and the late Love Lee Hughes. She was a member ior Service and the Shelby County Hospice in Shelbyville, Ind. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Phelps in 1997. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include three sons, Richard G. Slaughter, Danville, Penn.; Timothy G. Slaughter, Edinburgh, Ind., and Kirk H. Slaughter, California; two brothers, Michael V. Hughes and Gregory M. Hughes, both of Johnson City; two nieces and seven grandchildren also survive. Funeral services for Joy Lou Hughes Phelps will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2004 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Mr. Byron Paddock officiating. Music will be under the direction of Kevin Weems. Burial will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park.
