Mrs. Pierce was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Frank and Jennie Hardin Grindstaff. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Irvin C. Pierce, June 30, 1972, a brother, Floyd Grindstaff, a granddaughter, Lisa Pierce, a great-granddaughter, Abigale Gallagher, and a son-in-law, Gary Bias. Mrs. Pierce was of the Baptist faith and was a retired seamstress at Joseph and Feiss Clothing. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Louis Gallagher, Cleveland, Ohio, and Diane and Ignatius Puleo, Chardon, Ohio; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Kathy Pierce, North Olmstead, Ohio, and Gary W. and Mary Ann Pierce, Chagrin Falls, Ohio; a sister, Evelyn Ward, Elizabethton; a brother, Robert Grindstaff, Elizabethton; a sister-in-law, Pearl Grindstaff, Elizabethton; and a brother-in-law, William Ward, Elizabethton. Twelve grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and extended family and in-laws also survive. Darrell Holly officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Ensor Cemetery, Elizabethton. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
