Potter 01/04/99 Theodore Roosevelt Potter, 94, 137 Ted Potter Road, Butler, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, in the Asbury Center, Johnson City, following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late William and Emma Stout Potter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dovie Irene Potter, Nov. 10, 1998, a daughter, Grace Cable, in 1996, two sons: Ray and Ralph Potter; a sister, Sarah Hollifield; five brothers: Bronlow, Harrison, Millard, Blaine and George Potter. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Stone Mountain Baptist Church. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War I. Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law: Larry Potter, of the home; Dennis and Wanda Potter, Elk Park, N.C.; and James "Red" and Betty Glover, Hampton; five daughters and three sons-in-law: Gayle Ashley, Mary and Howard Estep, all of Elizabethton; Linda Potter, Betty and Daniel Hill, all of Johnson City; Ruth and Wayne Harmon, Butler. Twenty grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. POTTER -- Funeral services for Theodore Roosevelt Potter, 94, 137 Ted Potter Road, Butler, who died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, were conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, with the Rev. Buddy Street, the Rev. Howard Estep and the Rev. Danny Cooke officiating. Music was under the direction of Ms. Lynette Grainger and the Rev. Howard Estep. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, in the Stone Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be grandsons: Terry Cable, Mark Harmon, Tony Harmon, Randy Potter, Jackie Potter, Scon Ashley and Chris Estep. Honorary pallbearers will be Dwight Taylor, Theresa Marlow, Dr. Rick Rolen, Dr. Jerry LeRoy and the second floor nursing staff at Asbury Center. Everyone will meet at the funeral home chapel at 12:45 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home or at the residence, 137 Ted Potter Road, Butler, at anytime. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
