Potter Rose Baird Potter, 76, 608 West D. Street, Elizabethton, died Saturday, January 19, 2002, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Potter was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late William and Nora McCloud Baird. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Potter, three brothers, Luther Baird, J.M. Baird and Sterling Baird, and two sisters, Vicie Hopkins and Hattie Miller. Mrs. Potter was a member of the Elizabethton Church of Christ and was a homemaker. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Mike Smith, Columbia, Md.; a sister, Cordelia Cable, Elizabethton; two brothers, Darnel Baird, Elizabethton, and Clyde Baird, High Point, N.C.; three grandchildren; and special friends, Shirley Hicks, Reba Peters, Sam Maney and Junior Maney, all of Elizabethton. Street, Elizabethton, who died Saturday, January 19, 2002, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, January 21, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with Mr. Eddy Craft, minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Elizabethton Church of Christ Singers. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, at the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday for the graveside service. Honorary pallbearers will be Carroll "Moose" Mann, Benny Baird, Eddie Baird, O'dell Cable and members of the Elizabethton Church of Christ. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home.
