Potter Ruth Marie Whaley Potter, 73, 1645 Buntontown Road, Butler, died Monday, July 29, 2002, at Northside Hospital. Mrs. Potter was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Cart and Magie Arnold Whaley. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Charlie Whaley. Mrs. Potter was a a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her husband, Bud Potter, of the home; a son, Lester Potter, Petersburg, Va.; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Linda Hatley. Ray Green and the Rev. Doug Ranshaw officiating. Music will be by the Sugar Grove Quartet. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 1, in the Sugar Grove Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mack Holloway, Raymond Campbell, Keith Gregg, Steve Gregg, Luther Whaley and Harold Hatley. Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Dugger, George Shoun, Paul Fletcher, Jesse Cable, Ronald Harmon, Larry Shoun, Truman Potter, Charles Fletcher, Taylor Farthing and doctors and nurses of Johnson City Medical Center and Northside Hospital.
