CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Faye Johnson Potter, 15 Aug 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Faye Johnson Potter, 75, Suess Rd., Elizabethton (Valley Forge Community) passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2004 in the Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness with cancer. She was a daughter of the late George W. and Libby Benfield Johnson. She had lived her entire life in the Valley Forge Community. Mrs. Potter loved working in her garden and sharing her yield with friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed making quilt tops. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Johnson, in July,1992. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Ross Ray Potter; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Mitchell Vestal and Kimberly and Darren Denton, all of Elizabethton; two sons, Kevin Potter and Keith Potter, both of Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Ashley Hill, Patti English, Dalton Vestal, Brian and Jacob Potter; two great-grandchildren, Katy and K.C. English; two sisters, Joyce James, of Hampton, and Nancy Sluder, Elizabethton; four brothers, Bill Johnson, of Plover, Wisc.; Charles Johnson, of Custer, Wisc.; Robert Johnson, of Plainfield, Wisc., and Walter Johnson, of David Buck Rd; a number of nieces and nephews and cousins; also her special friends: Ronnie and Dallas Cates; Hugh and Mary Elizabeth Hatfield; Sheriff John Henson and Glen Hyder. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2004 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Edwards and Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. The graveside service and burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2004 in the Potter Family Cemetery. Joel Crisp and Ronnie Campbell will provide the music. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday will be Glen Hyder, Johnny Hyder, Eric Hyder, Tom Smith, Bobby James and Sheriff John Henson. Honorary pallbearers will be Carter County Constables, members of the Carter County Sheriff's Department and friends of the family. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at her residence.
