A Carter County native, Mr. Powell was a son of the late William Ivan and Vada Kessinger Powell. He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Powell. He was a retired carpenter. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include three sons, Michael Powell, of the home, Danny Powell, Angola, Ind., and David Powell, Pensacola, Fla., one daughter, Martha Powell, Pensacola, Fla., one sister, Blanche Mackley, Elizabethton, one brother, Carliss Powell, Elizabethton, seven grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Jerome Powell. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. POWELL -- Graveside services for Claude Powell, 70, 149 Mill Pond, Rd., Elizabethton, who died Thursday, will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the National Cemetery, Mountain Home, with the Rev. Jim Storie officiating. Burial will follow the service. Active pallbearers will be Jerome Powell, Jeff Powell, David Harold, Jerald Powell, Brandon Powell, Rodney Payne, Allen Powell and Aaron Powell. A special "Thank You" to Monona Powell. The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
