Proffitt Sr. 09/10/99 Floyd C. "Flip" Proffitt Sr., 66, 399 Oak Grove Road #1, Gray, died suddenly at his residence Thursday, September 9, 1999, of an apparent heart attack. Mr. Proffitt was a native of Elizabethton and had lived most of his life in Carter County before moving to Gray in 1987. He was a son of the late Joseph Raymond and Nannie Abigail Nave Proffitt and was also preceded in death by a sister and three brothers. Mr. Proffitt retired in 1998 from EZ Paintr where he worked as a receiving clerk. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a Protestant. Survivors include his wife, Barbara L. Proffitt; two sons, Floyd C. Proffitt Jr., Blountville, and Russell Proffitt, Elizabethton; two daughters, Regina Hall, Piney Flats, and Amanda Proffitt, of the home; four sisters, Wilma Barnett, Johnson City, Emma Lee Berry and Margaret Ray, both of Elizabethton, and Carolyn Kyker, Telford; and two grandchildren, Courtney and Justin Proffitt. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Appalachian-Hartman Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City, (423) 928-6111, is in charge of arrangements. PROFFITT -- Funeral services for Floyd C. "Flip" Proffitt Sr., 66, 399 Oak Grove Road #1, Gray, who died Thursday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday in the East Chapel of Appalachian-Hartman Funeral Home. Graveside committal services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Those planning to attend the committal services are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:30 p.m. Monday to proceed to the cemetery. Pallbearers, who are to assemble at the funeral home by 7:45 p.m. Sunday, will be Dickie Hutson, David Johnson, Floyd C. Proffitt Jr., Russell Proffitt, Brian Campbell, H.B. Hall, Gary King and Terry Taylor. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Appalachian-Hartman Funeral Home, 800 E.
