CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Eva Oliver Proffitt, 17 Jan 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Eva O. Proffitt Mrs. Eva Oliver Proffitt, 79, 710 E. 2nd Street (Courtyard Apartments), Elizabethton, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, in the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Carter County, Mrs. Proffitt was a Carter County native and a daughter of the late James M. and Cassie Grindstaff Oliver. She was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers. Mrs. Proffitt was a retired employee of Mor-Flo Industries, Johnson City. She was a member of New Testament Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Wayne O'Dell, Jonesborough; three sons and two-daugthers-in-law, Edwin and Linda Proffitt and Dwight and Regina Proffitt, all of Elizabethton, and James L. Proffitt and special friend Cathy Lewis, Johnson City; one sister, Ruby Oliver, Elizabethton; one brother and sister-in-law, Louie and Shelby Oliver, Elizabethton; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Oliver, Elizabethton; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. PROFFITT -- Funeral services for Mrs. Eva Oliver Proffitt, 79, 710 E. 2nd Street (Courtyard Apartments), Elizabethton, who died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Bill Allison officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Ensor Cemetery with Pastor Dale Greenwell officiating. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Monday, will be Daniel Proffitt, Thomas Proffitt, Robbie Stanley, David Proffitt, Leonard Proffitt and Dawson O'Dell. Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Nidiffer, Eugene Nidiffer and Benson Estep. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of Edwin and Linda Proffitt, 325 W. Doe Avenue, Elizabethton. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Monday to go to the cemetery.
