Nola M. Roberson 





    Nola Mae Stockton Roberson, 76, of Elizabethton, went home to be with 

Jesus, Friday, November 10, 2006, at Johnson City Medical Center following 

complications from surgery. 





    A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late John and Julia 

Hughes Stockton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 

husband of 55 years, Orville Lewis Roberson, four brothers, Voiad, Claude, 

Marshall and Paul Stockton, and two sisters, Mary Street and Ida Henson. 





    Mrs. Roberson had worked for Empire Furniture Company and was a homemaker. 

She was of the Free Will Baptist faith. 





    Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Beverly 

Roberson, Dale and Penny Roberson and Bobby Roberson, all of Elizabethton; a 

daughter and son-in-law, Billie and John Merritt of Elizabethton; a brother 

and sister-in-law, Spence and Grace Stockton of Roan Mountain; two sisters, 

Edna Vance of North Carolina and Dorothy Roberson of Roan Mountain; six 

grandchildren, Elizabeth Clark, Amanda Roberson, Julia Roberson, Dustin 

Roberson and Alesha Roberson, all of Elizabethton, and Emily Roberson of 

Virginia; and two great-grandchildren, Aaron and Tera Clark of Elizabethton. 

Several nieces and nephews also survive. 





    Funeral services for Mrs. Roberson will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, 

November 15, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Randy Johnson 

officiating. Music will be provided by Laurel Adkins. Graveside services and 

interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 16, at Happy Valley Memorial 

Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 

9:30 a.m. Thursday, will be Carl Roberson, Barry Stockton, Roger Stockton, 

Gary Stockton, L.D. Vance and Les Roberson. Honorary pallbearers will be Cecil 

Honeycutt, J.D. Snyder, J.R. Stockton, Sam Harrison, Charlie Trivett, Ronnie 

Edwards, Doyce Sheffield, Noah Ensor, Ken Dugger, Ben Johnson and Ray 

Whitehead. Also her special friends: Leona Street and Ruby Weeks. The family 

will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends 

may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the 

funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery. Online condolences
