Ike was a lifelong resident of Carter County and the son of the late Isaac "Coon" and Laura Maggie Moffitt Roberts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Arnold, Fred and Larn, five sisters, Nola Roberts, Rosie Holder, Stella Ellison, Faye Mangus and Frances Lyons, and an infant granddaughter, Tammy Lee Walker. Ike was an avid fisherman, deer and coon hunter. He owned and operated the Gap Creek Bus Line for many years and was a retired school bus driver with the Carter County School System. He loved to spend Sunday afternoon with his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father and "Pa." Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Betty Campbell Roberts, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Trula and Johnny Walker, Elizabethton; a son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Shavonne Roberts, Elizabethton; two grandsons, Ronnie and Lynn Walker; four granddaughters and their spouses, Debbie and Billy Garrett, Atlanta, Ga., Shon and Dale Blevins and Angie and Brian Andes, all of Elizabethton, and Becky and Jimmy Light, Blountville; 10 great- grandchildren, Kevin and Amy Walker, Johnny Lynn Walker, Derek Harrison, Hannah Mock, Kaitlyn McKeehan, Brandon Blevins, Isaac Easter, Casey Blevins and Morgan Garrett; and two great-great-grandchildren, Chloe Holden and Tracy Walker. He is also survived by two special nieces, Frankie Hubbard and Hassie Hall, and two special neighbors and friends, Richard and Mary Miller. Funeral services for Mr. Roberts will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, with the Rev. Dale Blevins and the Rev. Alan Simerly officiating. Music will be provided by Shon Blevins and C.J. Roberts. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 23, in the Lyons Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Active pallbearers will be Richard Miller, Alfred Hubbard, Carl Roberts, Johnny Lynn Walker, Lynn and Ronnie Walker and David Hare. Honorary pallbearers will be Lawrence Walker, I.G. Peters, Bill Lyons, Steve and Bob Culler, Kevin Culler, Glen Henegar, Jimmy Light and Vernon Campbell.
