Roberts Jason Jay Roberts, 92, our beloved Father, 297 Cove Creek Road, Roan Mountain, went home to be with his Lord, on Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at Cannon Memorial Hospital, Banner Elk, N.C., following an extended illness. Mr. Roberts was the son of the late James and Millie Barnett Roberts and was a native of Carter County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, J.C. Putnam. Mr. Roberts was retired from Ed Hart's Lumber Company and was of the Christian faith. Survivors include his wife, Marie Odom Roberts, of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Bertie Putnam and Virgie and Wade Hughes, a son and daughter- in-law, Roy and Jean Roberts, two grandsons, Ricky Putnam and Roy Lynn Roberts, one granddaughter, Karma Morgan, and three great-granddaughters, Bennett Elizabeth Roberts, Rachel Putnam and Hannah Morgan, all of Roan Mountain. He is also survived by a brother, Howard Roberts of Hampton and three sisters, Pearl Birchfield of Elizabethton, Edith Gibbs and Lucy Hughes, both of Roan Mountain. The funeral service for Mr. Roberts will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, May 4, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with Mr. Edward Morgan and Mr. Gerald Holly, ministers, officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, and at other times at the residence. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, in the Johnson-Roanview Cemetery in Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be Steve Dyer, Mike Dyer, Stuart Dyer, Carroll Hill, Jack Barrett, Cris Barnett, Dennis Lester and Larry Roberts Sr. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Gibbs, Robert Hughes, Leroy Stocton, Douglas Roberts, Freddie Roberts, Dr. Steven Cook and Associates, the Staff of CCU of Cannon Memorial Hospital, Spence Stocton and Doug Roberts.
