Radford Roger E. Radford, 78, 1386 Dry Creek Road, Elizabethton, died Thursday, August 31, 2000, at the home of his daughter, Evelyn Lipford, 621 West C. Street, Elizabethton, following a brief illness. Mr. Radford was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Austin and Clercy Waycaster Radford. He was also preceded in death by a son, Allen Radford, and by five brothers and three sisters. Mr. Radford was a member of the Upper Gap Creek Free Will Baptist Church and a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation with 43 years of service in the machine shop. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Culler Radford, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Bob Lipford, Elizabethton; two sons and three daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Jane Radford, Elizabethton, Roger Darrell and Gloria Radford, Charlotte, N.C., and Janet Radford, Vale, N.C.; a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Mildred Radford, Elizabethton; seven grandchildren, Tonya Jeffers, Jeff Lipford, Shane Radford and Karen Radford, all of Elizabethton, Eugene Radford, Gray, Melissa Reynolds, Macon, Ga., and Tim Roberts, Piney Flats; and four great-grandchildren, Travis and Weston Jeffers, both of Elizabethton, Elizabeth Radford, Gray, and Brian Reynolds, Macon, Ga. Radford, 78, 1386 Dry Creek Road, Elizabethton, who died Thursday, August 31, 2000, were conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, September 2, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with the Rev. Roy Whitson and the Rev. Allen Simerly officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 3, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Radford, Bruce Radford, Randy Radford, Larry Radford, Joe Hensley and Frank Culler. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 1:15 p.m. Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
