CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Ransom Radford, 8 Aug 2004 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Ransom Radford, 84, Dry Creek Rd., Elizabethton, died suddenly, Sunday, August 8, 2004 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. A native of Yancey County, N.C., he was a son the late Dan and Sallie Phillips Radford. Mr. Radford retired from Summers - Taylor were he was a truck driver. He was a World War II U.S Army/Air Force Veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma "Lena" Radford, December 6, 1988, and three brothers. Survivors include his wife, Maye Radford, of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Donnie Hamby, Elizabethton; Judy and Phil Adkins, Hickory, N.C.; Leona and Earl Morton, Hickory, N.C.; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2004 in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, with Evangelist Phillip Adkins and Rev. Raymond Hooks officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. prior to the service in the chapel, or other times at the residence of a daughter, Kathy Hamby, 1101 Dry Creek Rd., Elizabethton, at any time. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be: Stephen Briggs, Bob Zarby, Raymond Hooks, Eddie Tipton, Earl Morton, and Michael Morton. Honorary pallbearers will be: Allen Morton and Brad Morton. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday to travel in procession to the cemetery.
