CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Ruth Reece Rambo, 4 Aug 2003 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Ruth R. Rambo Mrs. Ruth Reece Rambo, age 100, Thomas Blvd., Elizabethton, died Monday, August 4, 2003 at her residence. A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Daniel B. and Elizabeth Wilson Reece and had lived in Elizabethton for the past 61 years. She was a 1921 graduate of Johnson County High School, Mountain City. She taught school for a brief period after graduating from high school. Mrs. Rambo was the oldest member of the First Baptist Church of Elizabethton. She once sang in the church choir. She was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class, where she served as pianist for several years. She formerly had been active in the Women's Missionary Organizations. Mrs. Rambo was preceded in death by her husband, Earl T. Rambo, November 8, 1980; by a son, James Samuel Rambo, June 30, 1999, and by eight brothers and sisters. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Earlene and Roy Barron, of Navato, Calif., and Martha and Bill Holden, of Elizabethton; five grandchildren and their husbands, Mikki and Rocky Crowe, of Johnson City; Becky and Marc Bowen; Kathy and Richard Fries, of Calif., and Holly and Richard Carter and Patty Rambo, Elizabethton; seven great grandchildren, Weston Crowe, Matthew and Jonathan Bowen, Stephen Fries, Ryne Carter, Nina and Alexa Feathers, several nieces and nephews, and her care giver, Helen Minson. Funeral services for Ruth Reece Rambo will be conducted at 3 p.m Wednesday, August 6, 2003 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. William L. Swafford officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Hope, Happy Valley Memorial Park, with the Rev. Bob Polk officiating. Roger Jenkins, soloist, and Yvonne Swafford, pianist, will provide the music. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Holden, Rocky Crowe, Roy Barron, Richard Carter, Dr. Marc Brown, Richard Fries, Ramsey Pollard, Kyle Chambers, G.B. Gardner, Raymond Shepard, John L. Bowers, Jr., Temple Fulton, Barney (Howard) Fondren, and Reece Cole. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at her residence.
