Richardson 07/21/99 Violet P. Richardson, 77, 421 Carter Blvd., Elizabethton, died Tuesday, July 20, 1999, at her residence following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Richardson was a lifelong resident of Carter County and a daughter of the late John T. and Laura S. Morley Proffitt. She was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Richardson, a brother, Hendrix Proffitt, and two sisters, Margaret Williams and Ida Cordell. Mrs. Richardson was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Ray Z. Richardson, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Jerry Russell, Salem, Va., and Teresa and Jerry Fagan, Elizabethton; a brother, Harry Proffitt, Elizabethton; three sisters, Ada Nave, Elizabethton, Wennoah Williams and Gertrude Nave, all of Elizabethton; seven grandchildren, Abbie Buckles, Chelsey Fagan and Chad Buckles, all of Elizabethton, Shane Russell and Jared Russell, both of Salem, Va., Jason Richardson and Ian Richardson, both of Woodstock, Ga.; and a daughter-in-law, June Richardson, Woodstock, Ga. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. RICHARDSON -- Funeral services for Violet P. Richardson, 77, 421 Carter Blvd., Elizabethton, who died Tuesday, will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, with Rev. Tony Oliver officiating. Music will be by Mr. Brian Wilson. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be grandsons: Chad Buckles, Shane Russell, Jared Russell, Jason Richardson and Ian Richardson, and a special friend, David Holder. Honorary pallbearers will be the Medical Center Hospice, Nurses and Staff, Annie Tolley, the Staff of Medicine Shoppe in Johnson City, Dr. Cynthia Newton, Dr. Fredrick Seifer, Dr. Brian Donovan, the Staff of Johnson City Medical Center, ICU and 2500 Wing; special thanks to Mary Farrington and Maxine Ward. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service.
