CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - John Richardson, 28 Aug 2002 ----¤¤¤---- John Richardson John Richardson, 85, formerly of 285 Morgan Branch Road, Roan Mountain, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, in the Roan Highlands Nursing Center following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, Mr. Richardson was the son of the late Hillsberry and Vernie Baker Richardson. Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Geneva Buck Richardson, May 13, 1996; two sisters, Ruth Greene and Leotha Richardson; and two brothers, Jeff and Cephas Richardson. Mr. Richardson was a member of Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, former Sunday school teacher and on various committees. Mr. Richardson was a former member and deacon of Morgan Branch Free Will Baptist Church. He was a farmer and a machinist at Interstate Foundry, and served on the Farm Service Agency Commmittee. He was also a former member of the planning commission in Carter County. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law Douglas and Myra Richardson, Roan Mountain, one sister, Winnie Osborne, Johnson City, one granddaughter, Brooke Richardson, Middlesboro, Ky., and several niece and nephews. Music will be under the direction of the Danny Cooke Family. Graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 31, in the Buck Cemetery, Roan Mountain, with Rev. Keith Gwyn officiating. Active pallbearers will be Herbert Hoilman, Harold Green, Danny Miller, Chuckey Holden, Garry McKinney, Larry C. Buck, William Orr and Billy Buck. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry McKinney, Norman Miller, J.C. Richardson, Ronnie Miller, William Orr, Jr., Phillip Orr, Dr. Steven Cook, Dr. David Kemmel, Lewis Blevins, Brice Robinson, Rev. Allen Simerly, Paul Hicks, Michael Hagie, Leslie Roberson, Mike Smith and Arland Singleton. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 P.M.
