CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Thomas Quentin Richardson, 24 Feb 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Thomas Quentin Richardson, 85, Thomas Blvd. and Southgate Drive, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, February 24, 2004 in the Ivy Hall Nursing Home. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Robert Daniel and Irene Oaks Richardson. He was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation, having worked there for 53 years. Mr. Richardson was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church and was the last active member of the John Morgan Sunday school class. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a charter member of the Milligan Croquet Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Ledford Richardson who died July 22, 2001 and by a sister, Evelyn Richardson Donnelly and a brother, Frank R. Richardson. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carol Ann and Ralph Bowers, Elizabethton; a grandson and his wife, David and Brandy Bowers, Elizabethton; a great granddaughter, Megan; three brothers, Dennis Richardson, of Roanoke, Va.; Ray Richardson and Donald Richardson, both of Elizabethton; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Richardson and Margaret Hamm; a brother-in-law, Harlan Leford, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 8:30 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2004 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Phil Poston and Rev. Elmer Carter officiating. The graveside service and burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2004 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Brandy Bowers, Alecia Holder, Phil Poston and Scott Reynolds. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at noon Saturday will be Jack Miller, Floyd Nave, Jerry Hamm, Sam Bradshaw, Bill Fraley, Ray Davis, Jerry Russell and David Stines. Honorary pallbearers will be his church family, Pat "Red" Bowers, Elmer Bowling, Kyle Chambers, Marvin Carden, Jessie Birchfield, John R. Campbell, Dennis Isaacs, Ken Wickwire, Darrell Wagner, Forrest "Smokey" Boling, Ivan McQueen, Tom Oxendine, James "Bo" Campbell, David Pinkard, Don McKeehan, Richard Knode and Leo Masters. The family would like to express a special "thank you" to Victor and Judy Deloach and the loving staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of his daughter and son-in-law, Carol Ann and Ralph Bowers, 174 Southgate Dr., Elizabethton. VFW Post #2166 will conduct military graveside honors.
